Christmas Celebrations And Happy New Year 2018

Christmas Celebrations And Happy New Year 2018

This was our almost completed Christmas Dinner Table, we went into the garden and picked some rosemary sprigs and bay leaf branches.  We scattered these in the middle along with a couple of limes and it looked perfect, unfortunately I got so busy cooking I forgot to take the final picture.

Melbourne turned on a perfect day with the weather, just nice to enjoy inside or outside with little or no wind.

I forgot to take pictures of our beautiful turkey, ham, vegetables and various salads we had as well as the most tasty prawns and oysters bought from our favourite seafood place in the Queen Victoria Market.

We had made a very tasty gravy with giblets, turkey neck and vegetables which was a delight to have with the turkey.  We had found a recipe for cranberry sauce and because I had a pack of frozen cranberries decided to give it a go. I have to say in the future that will be our go to cranberry sauce, no more bought stuff. Wow! was it just so fantastic.

My sister had joined us from Tasmania for a few days and it was so good to catch up before, during and after Christmas, even in between the preparation and cooking for the special day.

I had watched many of the Jamie Oliver Christmas specials on the television and one of them showed a game similar to Celebrity Heads. I decided this would be a great way to bring everyone together before sitting down to dessert. My sister and I decided on the names and wrote them on small cardboard strips which we attached to the party hats that were inside the crackers.  What a lot of fun and such a good idea. Everyone was a winner with a choice of little chocolates.

All in all a wonderful day and worth all the hard work beforehand.

Now here comes the New Year only a couple of days away.

I would like to wish one and all a very Safe and Happy New Year, all the best for 2018.

  • Very nice job alround. Table looks great, nice to go the extra mile so to speak for the special day. Sounds like all involved had good food and good fellowship with your game.
